This drug contains Finasteride, the exact same chemical as Proscar (5mg of finasteride). Prosterit is an enzyme inhibitor. It is used as a treatment in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in low doses, and prostate cancer in higher doses. Prosterit blocks the the enzymes that cause the prostate to grow, thus decreasing the size of the prostate as long as the medication is taken. In many countries it is registreted for androgenetic alopecia (male-pattern baldness).
There are actually 2 different 5-AR enzymes, and specifically the type-II variety is blocked by the Finasteride. While type-I 5-AR is often the culprit behind acne and hirsutism, type-II enzyme is the one responsible primarily for hairloss and prostate enlargement. Type-II, in either events, is responsible for around 2/3rds of the circulating DHT in your body, so it's no surprise that Finasteride typically reduces your total DHT levels by around 65%.
If you have liver disease or liver failure, including cirrhosis, Any allergies, including allergies to foods, dyes, or preservatives and you are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant, you are breastfeeding, you should talk with your doctor before use this drug.
For male pattern baldness treatment Prosterit should be taken 1mg once daily. For BPH treatment it should be taken 5mg once a day. It should be taken at the same time each day with or without food. If you have problems with your stomach, take it with food. It may take as long as six months before your enlarged prostate symptoms or hair loss improves with finasteride. If you do not take your finasteride as scheduled, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.
