Monodox which its active ingredient is Doxycycline, is a tetracycline antibiotic that cures some bacterial infections such as pneumonia and respiratory system and also the other infections-lyme disease, acne, infections of skin, genital, and urinary systems, and anthrax. It is effective also in the treatment of malaria. Doxycycline, avoiding increase and diffusion of bacteria in the body, blocks bacteria. And it should be known that antibiotics are not used for colds, flu, or other viral infections.
If you think to go to a place where there is malaria, you should take Doxycycline before 1-2 days and you should continue to use it for 4 weeks after returning from this place. This antibiotic should not be used more than 4 months fort he treatment of malaria.
The use of Doxycycline is once or twice daily. If you experience problems regarding your stomach, you can take this drug with food or milk. In the use of Doxycycline there are some cautions. Fo instance, all products that include magnesium such as antacids, calcium supplements, iron products, and laxatives decrease the effect of Doxycycline when they are used together with it. It is better to use 1 hour before or 2 hours after the drugs with magnesium like antacids (including sodium bicarbonate), calcium supplements, and laxatives. And 2 hours before or 3 hours after the drugs with iron as iron preparations and vitamin products.
Diarrhea, itching of the rectum or vagina, sore mouth, blurred vision, severe headache, hives, skin rash, difficulty breathing or swallowing, redness of the skin (sunburn), yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark-colored urine, itching, light-colored bowel movements, loss of appetite, upset stomach, vomiting, extreme tiredness or weakness, confusion, decreased urination, stomach pain.
